Article Funded by AKS Korean Studies Grant Program Awarded Best Article by American Business History Conference

Professor Hoi-eun Kim (History, Texas A&M University) was awarded the 2020 Philip Scranton Best Article Prize at the American Business History Conference. In 2013, Professor Kim was a recipient of funding as part of AKS's Korean Studies Grant Program. The Philip Scranton Best Article Prize is awarded to the best article published during the previous year in Enterprise & Society, the academic journal of the Business History Conference. Dr. Kim's article was published in the December 2019 issue of the journal (Volume 20, Number 4). The article describes the pharmaceutical industry during the Japanese colonial period in Korea and the roles played by vendors and pharmaceutical companies.

The Korean Studies Grant Program, administered by AKS's Division of International Support for Korean Studies, is a program that supports international Korean studies researchers in academic research and conferences. The purpose of the program is to promote the international spread of Korean Studies and to improve the quality of Korean Studies abroad. This program has an annual budget of 1.5 billion Korean won.
